Costco is making a big change to one of its beloved bakery products — and customers aren’t happy.

Earlier this week, a customer at his local store noticed a sign showing the changes to Costco muffins.

The bakery is switching to smaller muffins and no longer offers mix-and-match muffins. Instead of mixing and matching two 35-ounce six-packs of the larger muffins for $9.99, warehouses sell one 31-ounce eight-pack of an individual flavor for $6.99.

After the shopkeeper posted a photo of the message on Redditfans started complaining about the changes – especially the price.

One customer calculated the price per ounce in each container and concluded that the “new ones are 58% more expensive.”

“So smaller, more expensive muffins…” wrote another.

“For that price I’ll just bake myself,” someone snapped.

“The new ones are smaller. Maybe about 70% the size of the old one,” someone commented.

Aside from the price, people complained that the new muffins weren’t nearly as tasty as the old, larger muffins.

‘They’re so dry! The old ones were juicy and delicious. The new ones are like they were left out and have a weird aftertaste,” one person complained.

“Was excited about the 8 pack because we can’t eat 12 of them before they go bad, but they are objectively worse muffins,” another commented.

“The new muffins are great if you like a dry, grainy mess,” said one. “Our family (has) probably bought the old muffins a few times a year for 25 years. We will never buy these new ones again, they were terrible.”

People were also devastated to learn that they could no longer mix and match their muffin flavors.

“I really wish they had a varied package. I don’t want to buy 8 muffins with the same flavor. 4 + 4 would have been ideal,” one person wrote.

“My grandma and I shared this before she died so this really brings me down,” another shared.

“My family can’t agree on which flavor to get. We used to mix and freeze. We’ll probably skip this one now,” said one user.
